A Huddled Soul

The ache surrounds my heart
Ignorant of its beating
Full of anger and pain
It strangles what gives it life

As waves crashing against a boat
So lashes out this ache against my heart
Relentless and uncaring
Indifferent to the life that lies inside

Inside huddles my soul
Startled by the thunder and the lightening
Rocked by the torrents of rain and tears
Looking for rescue hopelessly

With staggered breaths, it beats once more
Willing itself on with ethereal strength
Knowing that after gasping comes relief
And after pain, healing
